The difference is that you need a transformer for a lowvoltage light and you can wire a 110volt into your home.

Low voltage transformers have always been a challenge to pick out for a job . You need to figure out what the usage of the product you are running with the low voltage transformer is and size the unit to that need . Add up all the lights and get a low voltage transformer to be just over those figures , you can mix and match different light sizes with most and just add the total and get started , some are easy and tell you what size bulb they run and how many they can handle , I always find what I need at www.seacoastlighting.com
